Seven days and over 40 canvases installed on the 20th and Vinton store!

Even more - we had to repair walls and paint skies! During the months of December and January, Rebecca Harrison has lead Pam Conyers-Hinson and Girardo to finishing the indoor canvases for the Vinton bag and save store while I have been working mostly with Jerimiah Neal and Mike Giron on the exterior work. But then Mike and Rebecca prepped for a few days and then Pam, Jerimiah and I joined them for the last 4. One more week should do. We are having fun, especially on our caffeine fueled break discussions. It is interesting to shift your schedule to nights, and most of us find there are positive aspects to it.

The rest of the pieces were installed yesterday. During the months of December and January, Rebecca Harrison has lead Pam Conyers-Hinson and Girardo to finishing the 32+ indoor canvases for the Vinton bag and save store while I have been working mostly with Jerimiah Neal and Mike Giron on the exterior work.

Progress on Vinton Street mural

We have 11 of 17 windows painted. We used an XIM UMA primer and Sher-cryl and Sher-clear marine paint to paint these prior to installation. It is the grocery store at 18th and Vinton. We met with Jose and Linda Garcia of the Mexican American Historical Society to get feedback on our imagery. We are painting inside and the glass is installed after we paint it, a few at a time.

In one of these pictures Gerardo Vasquez is seen. He has stepped in as our newest artist while Mike Giron painted his mural at Creighton University. Gerardo has been a great help! He is a student at UNO, and a native of Mexico.

We met with Jose and Linda Garcia of the Mexican American Historical Society yesterday to get feedback on our imagery, and we will be making some improvements to the designs of the panels yet to be painted. We are painting inside and the glass is installed after we paint it, a few at a time.
