We received a grant from the Nebraska Arts Council to help us with our vision

We just received a grant from the Nebraska Arts Council to help us with our vision of painting this on the side of the VFW building! we should find out about the Kiewit Foudation matching grant soon! St. andrew's UMC raised over 1,000 dollars and the Leavenworth and Midtown Neighborhood Associations have raised almost as much towards the project!

Our proposal for Typecast/Recast

Typecast | Recast is a public art exhibit brought to Omaha from the Anti-
Defamation League (ADL) – Plains States Region, and the Bemis Center For The Arts. The ADL seeks to improve the culture of our community so that all people, no matter who they are, can strive to live in a respectful and hate free world.

We should know if our idea is a finalist in a couple weeks.

Our team includes Richard Harrison, Michael Giron, Jeremiah Neal, Eddith Buis, Pamela Conyers-Hinson, and Rebecca Harrison.

We are artists committed to a story of redemption and hope for Omaha. The heart of
our piece is the quote by Daniel Beaty in his monologue play, Emergency: “Our greatest
pain can lead to our highest purpose.” The west wall of the Hilton Garage has the
potential to create two sets of painted panels that could have contrasting content,
depicting pain from typecast problems and purpose that comes from recasting.
To enrich the project we plan to learn the stories of individuals in Omaha and infusing
the imagery with them.

We have chosen materials that could endure weather for years, so the piece could be
utilized beyond the scope of the project

We will have artwork in an art show Friday in Benson hope to see you there.

We will be receiving honors at city and state events soon

A Midsummer's Mural and Mike Giron Painting will be honored at 2 events soon for our work on the Avanza Mural. Every year the Housing and Community Development Division of the Omaha City Planning Department has a “Community Development Week” celebration. There is a reception, a speaker and formal acknowledgement of individuals and/or organizations that have done work consistent with the theme of the celebration (the theme changes every year).

This theme this year is “The Art of Community Development.” Theaster Gates will be the speaker and they would like to acknowledge us, along with 2 other honorees.

The reception is being held the 27th of March at the Tip Top Ballroom, 1502 Cuming Street, from 5:30 to 7:00 with the program beginning at 6:00. In addition, on April 2nd, the honorees will be acknowledged by the Governor at a gathering at the Capitol Building in Lincoln.
